High condition, collectible and very early version of what would become the M16 machine gun. Colt logo with Armalite markings on left side of magazine well with colt address on left side of receiver above selector. No bolt forward assist, small triangular charging handle, early flash hider and rounded buttplate; all are immediately recognizable indicators that this is one of the first of its kind. Receiver serial number is the only visible serial number. Many of these early Armalite AR15 Model 01 machine guns found their way into police departments. This one appears to have seen very little use with the bright bolt extremely clean. Bright, shiny and clean bore. Clean, bright gas tube. Near excellent original finish to the metal. Smooth black composite furnishings do show some handling marks and a couple of scuffs. No magazine present. An exceedingly fine specimen of a very rare and difficult to find model. An important and historical example of American machine gun development. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
