Very fine specimen of a Colt 1921 Thompson with Cutts compensator retaining original 1921 internal parts and correct cartouched buttstock. Typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. “JHB” inspection mark not visible on right side of receiver. One 30 round U.S. Cartridge magazine is included. The Colt Thompson is the most iconic of American machine guns. The first in the line of Thompson machine guns produced, it is a recognized symbol of the 1920's prohibition era as well as World War II. The Thompson spans a range across several collecting genres, with plenty of variations and accessories to appeal to a wide range of collectors/investors. Even persons who are not normally gun enthusiasts have remarked to this cataloger, "If I was going to want to own one machine gun I would like a Thompson." The gun that started the line was the Colt model 1921, and of these, the ones with the Cutts compensator such are this ones which have the most recognized silhouette. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent with deep lustrous blue refinish on flat sides of upper receiver assembly and flat side of lower where it meets the upper. Some slight loss of finish to the high edges with some loss of finish to gray patina at the stock attachment points. Buttplate finish a brown patina with thinning to a gray at the high edges. Vertical foregrip is extremely fine with a rich brown color. Pistol grip in same state with noticeable gouges on the left side. Buttstock wood exhibits typical light nicks and handling marks. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is superb, excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine with remainder of bolt exceptionally fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A very handsome example of one of the most popular and sought after of the Thompson machine gun models. It is only upon the closest inspection that one may discern the refinish at the sides. Barrel does not appear to be refinished. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-159.
