Maget manufactured MG-42 machine gun marked “N.C.” and “cra” with Nazi proofs “WaA 11” on top of receiver and other various places which indicates 1944 manufacture by Maget machinery and equipment, Berlin. Other Nazi proof marks in evidence are “bpr” (Grossfuss Metal and Lacquerware), a subcontractor specializing in stamped metal parts, on un-numbered top cover, top of shroud, and muzzle retaining latch. Nazi proofed handgrip assembly. Anti-aircraft flip-up post parts present at rear sight. Electronic NFA registry indicates “GERMAN” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is good original finish thinning to uniform grey patina turning brown. Small chip out of right grip panel near top. Butt has some small cracks and handling marks which does not affect serviceability. Bore is near excellent, shiny, and bright. Bolt is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp, smooth, and positive. Charging handle is slightly turned inward at the top which does not affect function. This is a full-auto only machine gun. This machine gun looks every bit the combat veteran, with wear pattern consistent with field use. This was the "state-of-the-art" general-purpose German machine gun of World War II and remained in service in Europe after the war for many years. A very much sought-after World War II collectible machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2021-11-044
