Exceptionally popular iconic MP-40 submachine gun manufactured by "fxo 42", indicating manufacture by C.G. Haenel in 1942. Eagle over "WaA44" waffenamts are present, indicating Mertzwerke (who was subcontractor for many sheet metal components for German small arms parts) supplied the receiver tube to C.G. Haenel, who assembled and finished the weapon. Matching numbers on this example include the receiver tube, lower assembly, folding stock, rear sight assembly, barrel & barrel nut, bakelite barrel resting bar, front sight hood, and muzzle nut. Bolt and firing pin do not match, but match themselves, with the bolt and firing pin bearing Steyr "WaA623" and "WaA815" waffenamts and the charging handle bearing ERMA's "ayf" code. Complete with single unmarked phosphate magazine. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning all around, with the balance turning a pleasing mixture of brown and gray patinas. Bakelite components exhibit some scattered handling marks from use. Bore is bright, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Mechanics are crisp and function properly when cycled manually by hand. An MP-40 that would make for a fine machine gun for the entry level World War II enthusiast to bring to the range.
