Berlin Suhler Waffenfabrik (BSW) WaA4 Manufactured MG-34 machine gun with matching shroud, receiver and handgrip assembly with otherwise non-matching parts. Very nice bakelite buttstock serial number 3045b presents well on this gun. Very nice Nazi “dfb” (Gustloff) barrel in gun with one additional Isreali spare barrel in carrier. Bolt in gun is “dot” with hand scratched “bsw” visible, as is also scratched onto the feed tray. Likely the consignor marked these parts and he reports the gun runs well. One assault “drum” which snaps onto the feed tray, two steel ammo cans and five 50 round belt segments are included with this gun as well as a repainted original Nazi marked Lafette-34 tripod is dated 1939 on elevation gear and 1940 on top of mounting table. No bipod present. Noteworthy is that this guns handgrip assembly is early enough to have the screw at the bottom, and small spring hole at the front for the adjustable rate of fire parts. Some early MG-34 guns were equipped with these parts until they were deemed too problematic to maintain (not to mention time-consuming to produce and tune). Guns already so equipped had these parts removed and the later produced grip frame assemblies often encountered today do not have the provision for these parts. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine, with about 30% original finish thinning to a pleasing gray patina on shroud and receiver with over 90% dull finish on the flash hider. Top cover is very good, does not have Nazi proofs and bears two serial numbers. Otherwise with some thinning of original finish on the receiver turning to gray patina at the high edges. Buffer cup is a gray patina #6247a. Mechanics are crisp with a very nice, strong, smooth bolt movement when dry fired. Nazi bore is fine with bright shiny lands and getting dark in the grooves. Israeli barrel is chrome lined and near excellent. Tripod has attractive original green aluminum optic mounting block with near excellent repaint coverage. Relatively few pre-World War II MG34 guns made it back to the United States. Most were heavily used and/or otherwise lost during the Russian campaign. As an early specimen, this gun will stand out to the discerning German machine gun enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
