Maget manufactured MG-42 machine gun marked “N.C.” and “swd” with Nazi proofs “WaA 11” on top of receiver and other various places which indicates 1945 manufacture by Maget machinery and equipment, Berlin. Other Nazi proof marks in evidence are “bpr” (Grossfuss Metal and Lacquerware), on top of shroud, and muzzle retaining latch. Nazi proofed handgrip assembly and bolt. Anti-aircraft flip-up post parts present at rear sight. Butt is unmarked attractive hard brown composite. This gun is currently set-up in 7.62 x 51 MM (.308) and has a gray parkerized finish .308 top cover, feed tray, and flash hider with .308 barrel and post-war bipod. 2 8mm Nazi German barrels which have been boldly engraved “8 MM” are included with this lot as well as a Yugoslavian manufactured belt loader, and 16 contemporary plastic German MG-3 assault drums for 7.62mm NATO. These snap together in a row for easy transport. Electronic NFA registry indicates “FORM 2 REGISTRATION” as the manufacturer and approved incoming Form 4 indicates “Firearm German WW II” as manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine brown hard composite butt is very clean and attractive. As refinished over some light scuffs and handling marks. Grips extremely fine to near excellent. Bores of 8mm barrels are near excellent, shiny, and bright. 7.62mm barrel extremely fine with firing residue present. Bolt is extremely fine. Loader very clean and tight. Mechanics of both gun and loader are fine, smooth, and positive. This is a full-auto-only machine gun. The MG-42 is one of the most sought after machine guns of World War II, and finding one produced in 1945 is unusual. However, the quality of production never suffered even late in the war. These guns were built with pride to run, and to run well. This is a fine World War II collector’s item, needing only a few Pre-May 1945 parts to make it all World War II again, and yet still can be changed back over to .308 as the owner desires. A very attractive ensemble. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2021-11-045
