One can immediately recognize the Colt manufactured Vickers guns by their fine fit and finish. They have attractive corrugated steel water jackets and attractive gutta percha handles. The muzzle is of the unarmored open cage type as opposed to the far more common armored type muzzle seen on most British Vickers guns. The rear sight is very distinctive as well. For the American shooting enthusiast, however, it is the internals which are the most highly prized. Manufactured to fire the venerable .30-06 cartridge, the bolt and in particular the extractor lends the ability to the owner to fire easily obtainable and reloadable ammunition. Incoming transfer form states "Colt" as the manufacturer. The Vickers machine gun is already one of the most versatile recreational machine guns, and this particular specimen really catches the eye! The Vickers water cooled machine gun was the immediate evolutionary progression from the venerable Maxim machine gun. By relocating the trigger mechanism to the top of the action, the overall height of the receiver box could be shortened and the gun consequently lightened. This gun is currently set-up to shoot .30-06, but could be readily converted to shoot 8mm Mauser, or .303 British. Parts remain available to convert the Vickers to shoot the popular 7.62 Russian cartridge as well. Includes very rare original Vickers MK IV Tripod as manufactured by Colt, complete with original data plate with immediately recognizable massive brass elevation wheel. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished with some light pitting visible under the refinish in places, more particularly on the back plate handles. Water jacket is extremely attractive with some of the original markings illegible upon refinish. Muzzle booster very clean. Serial number is located on the inside of the side-plates and does not match the number at top end of water jacket. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A very fine Vickers gun for the discerning enthusiast who is looking for a gun which both displays in an outstanding manner and also has the versatility of a great gun to bring to the range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2021-04-007

CORRECTION: Great news! The bottom plate, both sideplate inside assembly numbers, and underside of nose cap assembly numbers are all matching. The serial number at top of nose cap to rear of front sight does not, and should not match these numbers. This indicates this gun is in its original factory configuration as a ground gun.
