This is an exquisite set of four pre-war Colt semi-automatic pistols. Each features full coverage engraving by master artist Dale Woody. This set includes a Colt Model 1908 .25 pocket pistol, a Colt Model 1903 .32 caliber pocket pistol, a Colt Model 1908 .380 pocket pistol, and a Colt Model 1903 pocket hammer model in .38 Colt automatic. All four pistols feature nearly full coverage and identical engraving. Each is nickel plated and all sport two piece ivory grips with Colt silver medallions. All of the factory legends are as sharp as they came from the factory, as are the edges. All remain in mint unfired condition since the work was performed. Set is housed in a custom French fitted case that holds all four pistols. In addition, there is a set of pre-war style reproduction cardboard boxes. The task of locating four pistols for this project, that would meet the requirements as to condition, to use as a basis for this project would be a daunting task in itself. Each was then hand chisel-engraved, plated, and fitted with custom ivory grips. It was a project of monumental proportions and the result is probably the most impressive cased set of Colt automatics ever produced by any engraver. The first gun is the Colt Model 1908 caliber .25 ACP semi-automatic with 227864 serial number. Manufactured in 1919 and has a 2" barrel. Has the original Colt marked magazine, perfect action and a mint bore. The second gun is the Colt Model 1903 .32 caliber 322831 serial number. Manufactured in 1919 with a 3-1/2" barrel, Colt stamped magazine and a near mint bore. The third gun is a Colt Model 1908 in .380 caliber with a 3-1/2" barrel and serial No. 39805. Manufactured in 1920. And the final and most impressive gun in this set is the Colt Model 1903 pocket hammer in caliber .38 Colt automatic with a 4" barrel and serial No. 32634. Manufactured in 1914. It, too, has a near mint bore. The most impressive set of engraved Colt automatics this writer has ever had the pleasure to view and would be fit for a king.
