Caliber .80 bore, Barrel length 45-1/2”. Offered is the classic British 1st model Brown Bess musket. One of the most widely used and recognizable of all weapons used during the Revolutionary War. This is referred to as the long land pattern. While the lock is an original period correct example, it is not original to this rifle. The hammer is a more recent replacement, balance of rifle is 100% original. It has the distinctive brass side plate, with brass trigger guard, butt plate and thumb plate. Barrel is pinned, has four brass rod thimbles and forend tip. It is missing rear sling swivel. Has the Tower marked lock with “GR” and crown, barrel has the “FG” English proof. Wood is in excellent, all original patina, with inspector stamp on the left side. Iron furniture is a smooth brown patina. Far above average example of this classic musket.
