Barrel with standard markings: US, JH, and smooth age brown with no pitting. Lock with excellently struck marking US, R. Johnson, Middtn, Conn 1841. Three-quarters stock with mint cartouches JH WAT for William A. Thornton. Stirrup rammer. CONDITION: Lock with no pitting. Faintest traces of original case colors. All small parts are original. Steel mounts with aged brown patina but no pitting. Stock retains much original raised grain. Action is perfect. Bore is excellent. This type of 1836 martial pistol normally receives a bright polish.
