The only centerfire pistol ever manufactured in house by Hi-Standard, a total of 7,400 were manufactured and numbered in their own serial range from 1947 to 1950. This was a magazine fed semi-automatic with blued finish and black checkered grips. This gun was developed during World War II. Full drawings were provided to the O.S.S. on February 12th, 1945 and on April 23rd a contract for production was granted to Hi-Standard. Production was to begin on September 15th, 1945 but the contract was terminated due to the end of the war. Since the tooling for the P-380 was completed before the contract was cancelled, the company went ahead with production and thus was born the post-war G380 pistol. This pistol retains approximately 95% of what appears to be an expertly reapplied blue finish with razor sharp markings with a couple of age specks on left side of frame. Grips are excellent. Fine action. Mirror bore. A very scarce Hi-Standard pistol with a storied history.
