This is a Bren Mark I machine gun manufactured by Enfield in 1942 as indicated by the markings on the left side of the receiver. Broad arrow proof and “42” date visible below matching barrel latch. Barrel in gun is non-matching as is the spare barrel in original brown canvas carrier. Carrier appears pretty complete with spare bolt, takedown tool, as well as spare parts wallet with cleaning equipment, oil bottle and spare parts tins with springs, pins, 2 ejectors, 3 extractors, and broken case extractor. In addition to the magazine in the gun, there is an original magazine carrier with 12 magazines included with this lot. Electronic NFA registry indicates “ROYAL SMALL ARMS ENGLAND” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Dolf L. Goldsmith. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent smooth grey matte refinish on the receiver portion of this gun with much more thinned original finish on the lower assembly, with expected light handling marks and bruising to the wood furnishings. Bores of both barrels are extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt faces of both bolts are extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. An outstanding specimen of a machine gun generally accepted to be one of the best light to medium machine guns of World War II. This model is a particular favorite of collectors and recreational shooting enthusiasts alike. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2025-09-172.
