This is another work-in-progress project from the William Fleming collection. Bill Fleming was ever the experimenter, often coming up with innovative ideas which he pursued as a NFA firearms manufacturer. This is a registered Fleming auto-sear in “S. E. F.” three position handgrip without selector married to what was is marked as an HK 52 in 7.62x39mm. It was originally in 308 and the magazine housing still retains this designation as well as the added, “7.62 X 39 MM” marking added by Fleming. No magazine nor bolt assembly is present. Two pin composite buttstock and bird cage style flash hider is present as well as cocking handle and mainspring. Auto-sear is present in the handgrip assembly, and its presence married to the rest of this piece is required, otherwise the host gun would need to be registered as a short-barreled rifle. The host gun retains its serial number on the left side of the partially cut magazine housing, no doubt with the intention to be able to able to accommodate AK-47 magazines. As stated, this was one of Bill Fleming’s projects which was left incomplete upon his death. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “FLEMING, WILLIAM DBA FLEMING FIREARMS” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the machine gun collection of William “Happiness is a Warm Machine Gun” Fleming. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent black hard coat finish. Composite furnishings are near excellent. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Gun is currently incomplete with no bolt nor selector, but “the sear is the thing.” THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2025-09-121.
