24" barrel in caliber .30-06. This early pre-war M1 Garand was manufactured from June 1940-September 1940. They are often referred to as the "Transition" model. Barrel is later (April 1944) and stamped "1SA". Has the hex nut on gas tube. Serif "P" in circle on wrist. Type four replaced rear sight. Left side of stock has the Ordnance wheel and is stamped "E. McF." (Earl McFarland June 1942-July 1943). Bolt drawing number is 8528287-SA and heat lot US2. Has a blued rear handguard band and blued left sight adjustment. Balance of gun retains approximately 90% green parkerized military finish. Stock is near mint. ME reading of 2 with a clean bore. Very early receiver.
