The smallest of the three production phases of the Dragoon with 2,700 manufactured. It is U.S. marked and inspected. Left side of frame is stamped "COLT'S PATENT US" with inspector stamp "B". You will find matching numbers on frame, barrel, trigger guard, backstrap, wedge, loading gate and cylinder. Top of barrel is stamped with inspector mark "B" for sub-inspector Joseph C. Bragg, this same "B" can be found on the backstrap, left side hammer spur, loading lever, cylinder and end of barrel address, as well as on the bottom of left grip panel. The inspector stamp "JCB" is faint but visible on left grip panel. Grips are excellent, slightly shrunk. The square back trigger guard and backstrap have generous amounts of plating, which would indicate it was original intended as a civilian revolver. The roll-engraved Texas ranger scene on cylinder is visible and easily discernible in most areas. All metal is basically now a smooth grey-brown patina. Serial number can be found inside the grip channel with grips removed. There is one replaced cylinder pin with all safety pins now flush. An extremely clean, scarce U.S. Second Model Dragoon.
