Full octagon barrel with full magazine, two piece American walnut stocks with crescent butt equipped with trap for cleaning rods, sporting front sight with ladder adjustable 1876 rifle sight graduated to 1,000 yards. The 1876 was Winchester's entry into the big bore more powerful cartridges of the day. This is example is very good overall condition with a very strong bore with slight darkening in the grooves. Barrel and magazine retain very little factory applied blue finish with virtually be all a light brown patina. The receiver is very nice with 40% thinning blue finish with the balance having turned a mellow aged patina. The two piece walnut stocks are very fine with most varnish remaining with slight loss of finish at wrist and at balance point of forearm. This is a very attractive and untouched 1876 rifle.
