Tapered round barrel takedown with gold band at breech, blued forearm cap, takedown collar with gold band, receiver and a No. 4 style engraving, with "D" style checkered and carved wood, engraved hammer, lever and trigger, barrel on breech end is gold banded, also gold banded on takedown collar and back end of receiver. This dual game scene engraved Winchester 1894 takedown rifle with gold band and carved stocks is truly a piece of mechanical art, as well as being one of the most uncommon of Winchester collectible rifles. Stock is of a highly deluxe grade of fancy American walnut. Tang is marked with an Assembly Number of "10" with a single dot behind the number on the tang. Stock is marked with a "10" on the front portion of stock where it meets receiver. Proof mark on barrel is left of center of engraving, just over the "30 WCF" caliber marking. Proof mark is dead center to top of receiver. Forend cap is lightly engraved; takedown collar is lightly engraved with chip pattern that totally encompasses the takedown collar. Hammer is lightly engraved as is the lever itself. All screws are also engraved. Bottom of receiver on lever link is also engraved. Barrel retains a 90-95% original blue. Standard beaded Lyman front sight with a flip-up rear sight with "V" notch missing. Proof mark stands out correctly on barrel and receiver. Forend cap retains a 95-97% blue as does magazine tube with a few marks on the barrel where locking lever would rub against it. Both sides of receiver retain a strong 95-96% blue. Loading gate is a bright Nitre blue with 60-65% of blue remaining . This is a "D" pattern carved and checkered stock with no major bruises in checkering. There are few scratches and impressions on left side of stock; right side also shows some impressions but with a few deep impressions and a few light scratches. Wood has no chips or missing pieces of wood and no splits. Stock has a sling eye in bottom of stock and forend cap. Forearm checkering with no bruises and a few scratches with very few impressions on wood. The forward portion of forearm has raised grain which would indicate that it has not been handled that much. Breech block retains 60% blue with engraving on back portion. Pistol grip cap with Winchester logo. Plastic buttplate with no cracks and one small chip on toe of buttplate. Bright shiny bore with sharp rifling, cycles properly. Mechanics are fine. Factory research states serial number applied July 19th, 1918; no other information available. From the Ray Bentley Collection. CORRECTION: It has come to our attention that the receiver has a professionally restored finish.
