Everything on this short rifle appears to be 100% factory. The twist is that we can find no record of a 20" rifle having ever been offered for public sale. That said, this is a commercial model and therefore, any other company at the time a customer could usually get anything he/she wanted. Standard features include: full round barrel, full magazine, front sight set into front barrel band, folding ladder rear sight, with walnut stock sporting two sling swivels, blue finish with case colored forend tip, hammer. The buttplate is gray patina, frame retains 90% original factory blue stamped .45-70. Barrel has 90%+ original blue, magazine is a homogenous blue-grey blend. Traces of color on forend tip and hammer. 75% blue on trigger guard, loading port is a freckled grey patina, trapdoor buttplate retains 30% finish, all markings are razor sharp, wood is excellent to near mint, strong shiny bore and fine action. A very handsome, possibly one of a kind Remington Keene rifle made only from 1880 to 1883. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
