This is an interesting cased set. Both of these pistols bear numerous British proof marks. Gun No. 20108 in engraved on the left side of slide "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON. W.". Gun (A) is not so marked. Both pistols are engraved on the right side of frame "THE LORD TOLLEMACHE PECKFORTON CASTLE CHESHIRE". These pistols were obviously once the possession of the Lord Tollemache, Bentley Lyonel John Tollemache, 3rd Baron Tollemache (1883-1955) of Peckforton Castle, the great-grandson of the original Lord Tollemache and owner of the largest estate in Cheshire. Both guns show some average high edge wear but remain in 95% original finish. Grips are near mint,. Both have the proper near mint, two tone tempered magazines. Case comes with two extra proper magazines. Housed in a period oak case that has been re-lined with a reproduction Cogswell & Harrison label. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
