Manufactured for William D. McKim of Baltimore, Maryland circa 1840. Barrel is a reused smoothbore musket barrel with "VP" proof on underside of barrel. Percussion lock marked " McKim & Brother Baltimore" controlled with single trigger. Walnut checkered stock with the initials "FP" stamped into the left side of buttstock. German silver engraved stock hardware with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal turning to an aged silvery brown patina. Wood has traces of original piano style finish with checkering worn flat. Gun has marks and dings from age an use. Shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
