(A) Contract Model 1861 marked "S.N. & W.T.C./ FOR/ MASSACHUSETTS", dated 1863 at the rear of the lock. Barrel markings are no longer present. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Gun has been heavily cleaned, no markings are left on the barrel. Lock markings are clear. Stock has been sanded. Missing the middle band spring. Rifling is sharp. Fine mechanical function. (B) 1842 Model smoothbore musket. The lock has what appear to be spurious Palmetto Armory markings, but of the correct style. "COLUMBIA/ S.C. 1852" at the rear of the lock is double stamped. The barrel has the standard VP Eaglehead proofs with an 1852 tang date. No markings on buttplate, bands or stock. Accompanied by a proper style socket bayonet missing the locking ring. CONDITION: Metal surfaces retain a pleasing patina with some light pitting, having been cleaned at some point in the past. Wood has dings and handling marks. Significant burn out behind the bolster. Lock is in good working order. GR
