Three stage barrel with an applied brass front sight and the rear most section chased with designs. Marked on the left side with British view and proof marks, as well as "(Asterisk) /RW" for maker Richard Wilson. Rounded lockplate inscribed "Wilson" in the center. Lock features a waterproof pan, a goldlined touchhole, and a sliding half cock safety. The ornate brass furniture is cast and chased in high relief. The sideplate shows arms motifs, flags, and drums, while the wrist escutcheon shows floral designs and a helmet. In the center is inscribed "IH". Brass full stirrup pommel cap with relief foliate designs with a flower in the center. Trigger guard bow engraved with a floral motif and finial terminates in a shell with foliate designs. Walnut stock, carved with relief shell around the barrel tang. Complete with its original ramrod with iron worm around the tip. CONDITION: Barrel has been cleaned and shows some wear and scattered pitting. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration, but cock is a replacement. Lock functions well. Furniture shows some high edge wear and retains a mellowing patina. Ramrod ferrules have been replaced with cast copper replacements. Ramrod tip is absent. Stock very good with some scattered marks.
