Caliber .45 -70 Government, 32 inch round barrel with post and blade front sight. Slide adjustable rear sight with graduations to 1000. Marked on barrel top at retaining band "BROWNING BROTHERS UT" and to rear of sight in script "OLD RELIABLE" in block "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT CONN.". Top of receiver marked J.P Lower Denver CO. Serial number on bottom forward of trigger guard 16752. Two piece walnut stock with checkered steel butt plate. Case colored receiver is marked "BORCHARDT PATENT SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT CONN U.S.A." CONDITION: Good as restored and refinished. Rifle is a period sporterized 1878 and has been refinished and re-case colored. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Buttstock has repairs at wrist and filler in cracks at wrist. This rifle appears to have been a restoration in process and could be brought back to represent its unique western heritage.
