Lot consists of: A) Peabody Rifle made by Providence Tool Company, Providence, Rhode Island. This particular gun is one of 2900 made for Massachusetts in 1872. Designated by the swivel plate being marked "MASS 200". Guns were sold as surplus in 1883. Blued rifled barrel with blade front sight and ladder adjustable rear. Case hardened action. Walnut plain full military stock with two iron barrel bands and iron buttplate. CONDITION: A) 80% barrel blue with 60% fading case colors. 50% original stock finish with light marks. Good bore and mechanics. B) Peabody Rifle made by Providence Tool Company, Providence, Rhode Island for the State of Connecticut in 1871 and is one of 2000 built. Blued rifled barrel with military sights. Case hardened frame. Walnut wood stock with iron hardware and sling base marked " CONN". CONDITION: B) Barrel worn to a silvery patina with action having traces of case. Wood shows usage wear with dings and handling marks. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
