Sharps New Model 1863 percussion rifle with Sharps marked rifled carbine barrel with "Lawrence" marked rear adjustable sight and fixed blade font sight. Case hardened action with Lawrence and Sharps patent dates. Walnut wood stock with iron furniture including iron patchbox (only 20,000 made). Illegible initials scratched in stock. Slide bar with ring and stamped "EAW" for E.A. Williams inspector. Serial number falls into guns going to the 5th Illinois Calvary who served in the Western Theater of the Civil War around Vicksburg, Tennessee. Comes with original blade for front sight in patchbox. CONDITION: Metal parts have a silvery patina with some light freckling. Good markings with visible inspector mark on stock but illegible. Stock shows hard use consistent with heavy combat. Shootable bore with good mechanics. Pellet drop is broken and needs replaced. Cool gun. DLM
