Rare example of an 1888 Winchester Repeating Arms Co. cartridge board. Lithograph size is approximately 26" x 38" with 3 vignettes. Upper left vignette features 2 cowboys with a steer, upper right with 2 hunters and moose, and lower centered vignette featuring bear and bear dogs. Cartridge layout consists of inverted “V” with partial rings around vignettes having a total of 87 metallic cartridges with 10 shot shell casing, 6 primer tins, and 8 bullets centered around “NEW HAVEN/CONN U.S.A.” marking along display bottom. Original framing consists of fancy gold liner frame with 2 - 1/2" wide beaded oak outer frame featuring 5 beads, overall measuring 35" x 46 - 1/4". Glass has been added for protection. CONDITION: Near fine overall with scatted water marks and moderate fading. Areas of the lithograph have lifted mostly on top right hand corner. Original cartridges. Original brown paper backing with ink stamped in 3 lines "COMPLIMENTS OF / WINCHESTERREPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A." label. Overall a very presentable and desirable early Winchester board. -MKS-
