Incredible and rare fully Kornbrath engraved 1903 custom bolt rifle. Brass bead Marbles Sheard front sight on hand stippled tall island, affixed by sleeved on front sight. Stock sling swivel attached to loose ring. Rear U-notch D.W. King flip up rear sight, in raised island soldered to barrel. Shank engraved to end of island with flowing vines, with a strip of florals just in front of receiver. Underside of barrel with "EW" stamp. Receiver with Lyman 41 rear sigh, tang engraved with flowing vines en suite with barrel and doubtless cut by the same hand. Bottom metal is engraved with a well-cut depiction of a bear in a wooded scene, with flanking scroll and florals around release tab; signed "ENGRAVED BY -KORNBRATH- HARTFORD, CT". Gold inlaid initials "DGJ" (?). Engine turned bolt with turned and reshaped bolt handle. Dark smokey grained stock with schnabel tip and checkering at forearm, around trapdoor magazine, and at pistol grip. Checkering is well-spaced and cut with accenting florals that are also well cut. Pistol grip with initials "DGJ" in identical style to bottom metal. Small cheekpiece. Serrated buttplate with trap and note reading "Custom Springfield / 30-06 / SN 1091837 / Kornbrath Engraved / Stocked by Wibener". "Wibener" and control 1091873 pencil marked on inside of stock. CONDITION: Very good. Metal retains much of a custom applied blue finish in lieu of military parkerizing. Blue is starting to plum somewhat. There is some scattered areas of old oxidation and an area of old fine pitting behind sling swivel stud, and a sliver missing from engraving on barrel shank. Wood is very good with some hunting bumps and dings throughout, somewhat more noticeable on left side checkering than right. Action works appropriately, bore is very good with some evidence of use in strong rifling. A really nicely made rifle engraved by one of the best. EW
