Ordered by Abercrombie and Fitch in 1965 and invoiced by Boss in 1967 this lovely 26" blued steel chopper lump barrel with 2 - 3/4" chambers is fitted with ejectors and a tapered flat top, matted rib with a steel round front bead sight. Right barrel is engraved “BOSS & CO.” and the left barrel is engraved “13/14, CORK STREET. LONDON, W.1.” The bottom of both barrels are stamped with the serial number "9327". Rib on the underside of barrels is engraved “MADE IN ENGLAND”. Barrel flats with London nitro proofs read ".729" "12" “2 3/4” and "3 1/4 TONS". Breech ends of the barrels have border scrolls. Chokes are Modified and Improved Cylinder. The case color hardened finished frame is built on a bar action sidelock design with disk set strikers, gold line cocking indicators, single English 3 pull trigger, and auto safe with "SAFE" in gold. The trigger is protected by an engraved and blacked right-hand rolled-edged guard with long bottom strap. Bottom strap is engraved with light scrolls and the serial number “9327”. The case color hardened finished action is engraved with Boss traditional rose bouquets and scrolls. “BOSS & CO.” is engraved on both lockplates near the action bar. Action has with single beads around fences, disk striker releases, and gas port escapes. The action flat is marked with London proof and serial number “9327”. Blacked top lever is engraved and also checkered on the left side. Safety slide fire blued with matching engraving and checkered thumbpiece. A best quality English walnut stock has been adorned with flat top checkering on its English straight hand grip, drop points, gold oval on belly and a checkered butt. Cast is neutral. The matching beavertail forend is similarly engraved with scrolls on its blacked iron metal, diamond, and escutcheon. The gun's serial number is engraved on interior of the forend metal. The Anson-style push-button forend release is fire blued and checkered. Gun lives in a Boss toe under leather travel case with canvas outer cover, "BOSS & CO." paper case label on interior of lid. The case is fitted with a two-piece wood cleaning rod, Boss square nickel oil bottle, two Boss nickel snap caps, Boss select cloth, and cleaning tools. CONDITION: Very Good. Barrels retain 90% original black. Bores are shiny. Action retains 95% of original case colors, blackening on trigger guard and bottom strap worn from handling, is tight on face, ejectors are timed well and the trigger feels crisp to pull. Stock and forend with various handling marks. Excellent upland game gun. CP
