Circa 1967. A blacked steel 24" Obendorf Model 98 Mauser Magnum game rifle. The rifles barrel is fitted with a banded ramped island based steel blade front sight with folding hood. Barrel is also fitted with partial mid band eye for sling. A banded, checkered, stippled raised island rear sight with standard wide "V" standing sight at 50/200 yards also has one folding leaf sight at 350 yards. Barrel reads "HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 13 BRUTON STREET, LONDON.", "HOLLAND'S .375"MAGNUM" with London proof marks ".375" "2.85" "19 TONS". The exterior of the receiver/action is stippled at chamber opening. Muzzle with modification of screw on and off blacked tip. This rifle and its long considered best all around caliber was created in 1912 by the firm Holland & Holland. As you can see by this particular rifle and its beauty the company has not failed it. The smooth opening bolt slide is blacked with its serial number "3548" engraved on arm and with a smooth handle knob. The action is built serrated side slide safe with red dot, flag safe "SAFE" in gold and with thumb notch cut out for stripper clip. Action bar ahead of thumb notch with visible German lettering. Rifle is equipped with Holland & Holland's famous hand detachable mount system with stabilizing bar. Rifle is nicely fitted with a "Swarovski Habicht 1.25-4x24" scope. The blacked painted floor plate reads "4 CARTRIDGES" ahead of this reads "MADE IN ENGLAND" near floor plate screw. The rifle's blacked single trigger is serrated. Trigger guard is blacked and fitted with floor plate opening button. The lightly faded case colored reinforcement bar is engraved. This classic and traditional rifle is built with a Deluxe grade one piece European walnut stock with Monte Carlo shadow line cheekpiece, pistol hand grip with strong checkering, case colored steel grip cap (with spare front blade sight), gold oval, eye for sling loop and an orange rubber pad. Forend with matched checkering. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel with very light handling marks. Rifling is sharp. Scope and mounts very good. Action operates smoothly. Stock and forend very good with strong checkering and some light handling marks at forend and a few other locations. Floor plate with indications of use. Rifle benefits from a nice refurbishment.
