Standard Civil War Model 1861 percussion rifled musket with 40" .58 caliber rifled barrel dated 1861 and marked with "V / P / (Eagle Head)" proofs. Barrel fitted with standard 3 leaf rear sight graduated to 500 yards and retained by 3 spring-retained iron bands to a full length walnut stock. Stock stamped with "ELA" cartouche, bands marked with "U" and butt plate marked with "US". Lockplate dated 1862 with US eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" markings. Rifle is complete with a tulip head ram rod. CONDITION: Fine as cleaned. Stock has a few minor dings and metal components exhibit a few imperfections. Bore retains strong rifling with pitting. Fine mechanics. BAS
