Standard 32 - 5/8" "V / P / (Eagle Head) / P" proofed barrel chambered for .45-70. Standard "R" marked rifle rear sight and bayonet lug front. Full length walnut stock with script "SWP / 1881" cartouche and circle "P" proof. Mounted with 2 blued iron bands and a "US" marked butt plate. Case hardened breech block marked "U.S./MODEL/1873" and blued lock plate marked with federal eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD". Complete with trowel bayonet sporting an original leather scabbard and wooden plug handle. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains the vast majority of its original blued finish with some areas including trigger guard, hammer, butt plate, and bands starting to fade to patina with light losses. Strong case colors exhibited on breech block. Stock very good with expected marks throughout. Very good, bright bore with strong rifling. Fine mechanics. Bayonet very good. BAS
