1856 vintage Colt 1851 Navy single action percussion revolver, serial number 50803. 7 - 1/2" octagon barrel in .36 caliber with Colt's New York address and cone front sight with hammer notch rear. Matching serial numbers observed on butt and trigger guard, with frame and barrel assemblies being forced to match along with cylinder. Wedge and cylinder arbor are not matching. U.S. marking on frame, with "S" appearing to have been restamped or touched up. US military inspector markings observed on trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, cylinder arbor, and rammer. Single piece plain walnut grips. CONDITON: Very good, as assembled with nearly all of the original finishes faded to a dull gray patina with scattered pitting throughout, especially on frame and cylinder. Brass front and backstrap assembly have been polished bright. Cylinder scene and Colt's patent markings on cylinder are no longer visible. Grips are very good as sanded and heavily cleaned. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is good with heavy abrasion throughout from age and crisp rifling. TON
