Colt Model 1861 Navy converted for use with metallic cartridges by Colt using the Richards-Mason cartridge conversion system in the mid 1870s. 7 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .38 caliber centerfire with blade German silver front sight and hammer notch rear. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, loading gate, and cylinder has been renumbered to match. One piece plain replacement ivory grips. CONDITON: Very good, with virtually all of the original bluing faded to a dove gray patina with scattered handling marks and light pitting. Brass trigger guard retains traces of the original silver plating in protected areas. Grips are good but shy to both back and front straps with a crack at bottom of right grip panel. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand and is tight. Bore is bright with moderate abrasion throughout and visible rifling. TON
