Lot consists of: 4 early prints of famed western artist Frederic Remington's (1861-1900) paintings from his "Color of Night Series", which he started around 1900 to explore light in generally nocturnal settings. (A) "Coming to the Call", copyright 1908. it depicts a hunter in a canoe preparing to shoot a bull moose on an idyllic lake as the sun sets. (B) "Evening on a Canadian Lake", copyright 1908. It depicts 2 figures with a dog in a canoe as it floats down a body of water at twilight. (C) "The Sentinel", copyright 1909 by Collier & Son. It depicts a rugged settler standing guard with a rifle in front of a covered wagon at night. (D) "The Warrior's Last Ride", copyright 1909 by Collier & Son. It depicts the somber scene of a Native American, wrapped in funeral cloth, being taken to his place of burial on horseback, led by several other figures against a bold orange sky. All of the prints are framed in old wooden frames with matting. (A) and (B) measure 21 - 1/2 x 16". (C) and (D) measure 18 - 1/2 x 14" CONDITION: Overall good/very good with bright colors retained. Some light staining present. Print (C) has some warping. Frames all have dings and show their age. BAS
