Serrated slope front sight, square notch rear sight. "P" proof in front of rear sight. Left side of slide with "REMINGTON RAND INC / SYRACUSE, NEW YORK". Barrel and internals not examined as slide release will not come out of frame; pin side shows several marks and peening as though a previous owner had problems removing it and possibly has forced it out of spec. Left side of frame with "FJA" proof under the slide release. Right side of frame with crossed cannon cartouche, slightly double stamped, and with appropriate burnishing in recesses, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", serial number, "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY". Checkered narrow hammer, safety (slightly recontoured at rear), slide release, magazine release, and short stamped trigger. Long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing. Keyes fibre grips. Magazine with "R" on lip for Risdon manufacture. Housed in a contemporary kraft box with Colt ordnance number ink stamped on top. CONDITION: Good. Retains much of the appropriate Du-Lite over the sandblasted finish with scattered losses. Left side of slide with more significant losses on left side of slide and frame. Some spotted old patina throughout, especially around ejection port. Grips are free of chips or cracks, but have what looks like small drops of paint on them. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some minor frosting. Box is fine as contemporary. EW
