Manufactured 1917. Half moon front sight with U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with uncircled Rampant Colt. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel marked "P / H" on hood, oriented to read with muzzle up. Left side of dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". "GHS" proof for Stewart above magazine release. Right side of frame with serial number. Checkered spurred hammer, early slide stop with relief mill cut, safety with mill cut, magazine release. Short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. 2 tone dual pinned base magazine. Housed in a contemporary kraft box with wax paper. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the Colt finish with some normal marks throughout from handling and storage. Some light areas of spotted patina throughout. Legends are crisp. Grips are very good with some abraded heads. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore has heavily softened rifling and heavy frosting. Box is fine as contemporary. EW
