Model 1878 double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1898. Top of barrel bears Colt's 2 line address, with the left side being marked "38 W.C.F.". Left side of frame bears the Rampant Colt logo. Frame and cylinder are matching, with the loading gate and frame are matching via their assembly number "813". Frame is mounted with Colt brown plastic 2-piece grips. Factory letter indicates shipment as a blue 4 - 3/4" .38-40 to George Tritch Hardware Company, Denver, Colorado, in a shipment of 4 sent September 25th, 1899. CONDITION: Metal components show wear, thinning, and freckling all around, with gray patina showing through in areas of wear. Excellent bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing as well as impressions and handling marks to the checkering. MLW
