Manufactured in 1885. It has the 2 line Pall Mall address on top of the barrel. "COLT'S PT. FA MFG. CO.HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON.". Etched panel on left side of barrel. "COLT D.A. 38". Half moon front sight. 3 line patent dates on the left side of frame. 1 piece rosewood checkered grip. Fire blue screws, trigger, and back of hammer. Case color frame with blue barrel, cylinder, grip straps and trigger guard. Comes in a fitted oak case with brass hardware and red felt interior with oil bottle and screwdriver. CONDITION: The barrel, cylinder, grip straps and trigger guard retain approximately 35% of the factory applied blue finish. The frame retains approximately 45% of the case color. Fire blue parts are very high condition. Checkering on grip is sharp with most of the factory varnish. Bore shows some light pitting in the lands and grooves. The action works in both single and double action. the gun locks up tight and indexes fine. Some one used this gun as a hammer at one point and marred the bottom of the grip frame. Case is in great shape with a "M.A.COX & SON" label on the inside of the lid. REW
