Large copper powder flask manufactured by Batty of Springfield, Massachusetts and dated 1857 with total production being from 1847-1858. Body of flask is marked with US armory eagle with shield with stars around a sunburst featuring 2 clasped hands and terminating with a panoply of arms with a US shield in the center of it. Top of flask is marked near spout "1857" / "BATTY" / "SPRINGFIELD MASS". Martial inspector marked "A.D.K" near manufacture date. CONDITION: Excellent, with copper turned a warm red-brown patina with minor handling marks throughout. Spout and head are a pleasing mellow brass patina. A fine example perfect for a Mexican War display. TON
