Second variation sporting rifle manufactured from circa 1863 to 1876, with approximately 5000 units produced. Blued finish 24 - 1/4" octagon tip up barrel with forward trigger acting as the tip up release. Globe front sight and v-notch rear, with additional lollipop peep sight mounted to tang. Manually actuated ejector slotted into right side of barrel. Sporting style walnut butt stock with steel crescent butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. Rifle exhibits a brown patina on barrel and frame, with traces of thinned blued finish and freckling present on barrel. Stock good with dark oil soaked appearance, some handling marks, and varnish bubbling. Dark bore with visible rifling. Good mechanics. BAS
