Model M-2 60 MM Mortar with original WW2 bipod marked "Firestone T. & R. Co. 1945” on data plate. Original baseplate, M4 sight in leather carrying case with shoulder strap, and original leather muzzle cover and web carrying sling for the mortar itself are also included with this lot. Firing pin present in end cap. Unable to determine length of protrusion within mortar. Electronic NFA registry indicates “US” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original olive green painted finish on tube and cup, as well as on bipod, and baseplate. Bipod has some brown patina where bare metal exposed at adjustment shaft. Optic in case also extremely fine with clearly visible vertical sight line, intact leveling bubble, and smooth moving adjustment knobs. Some very slight areas of light surface corrosion in places on the areas appropriately unpainted where adjustments occur. The bore of the mortar is extremely fine to near excellent, clean, with just a bit of brown patina. Leather is just starting to harden and is near excellent, and the web of the carrying strap remains strong and serviceable. It is quite rare to encounter an original Curio & Relic eligible WWII vintage U.S. Mortar, and this specimen with its accessories, would make an extremely fine example display piece in a WW2 collection, as well as being a load of fun on the firing range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE.
