Extremely rare original U.S. Savage Lewis .30-06 pan magazines in their original fitted wooden carrying box. Contains 3 original 97 round pan magazines, each marked “.30 US”. Box contains “stud type” pan loading tool. Carrying handle doubles as lid retention latch. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish of magazines range from very good to extremely fine original finish showing loss of finish to gray patina. All pans appear to be fully serviceable with leather handles intact. Loading tool devoid of finish. Wood box is unrestored with dovetailed corners, still very serviceable with about 15% of original paint remaining. Otherwise with some cracks and splits. An exceptionally rare item, and a very special find for the advanced Lewis Machine Gun collector, especially if they have a .30-06 Lewis machine gun needing magazines! JWK 2021-04-011
