An admirable example of a Queen Anne doll, circa early 1800's, that Ms Jinkins had purchased in the early 1960's. Having won a first place ribbon, 1965-66, from a display at the Washington D.C. Dollology Club, Ms Jinkins proudly displayed this doll in a shadow box frame on the living room wall for over fifty years! Just recently her son, whom still lives in the family house, decided to downsize and felt that after his sister, Ms Cooper, had sold most of her mother's dolls this past December at Morphy's that the time was right to pass on this family treasure. For the most part the facial painting is original, black light inspection reveals a bit of touch up under the chin and around the nose. There might be some minimal enhancement to the rouge cheek area? Ms Jinkins was an accomplished seamstress according to her daughter and most likely she costumed this doll in an appropriately styled outfit. Lower arms and lower legs also appear to have repaint to their wooden parts and although there is some touch-up to the finish she is predominately in what appears to be original/period paint. Overall quite a nice package and fresh to the market after 50+ years!
