15" (38cm) classic Bébé by Jumeau, with very nice huge blue glass eyes and closed mouth, stamped in red on the back of the head "DEPOSE TETE JUMEAU BTE SGDG 6." One will see in the back of the head a small circle that was punched out by the manufacturer, with the option of putting a key mechanism in there to open and close the eyes. However, like many of these, they were never sold this way, and later had paperweight eyes put in, with the circle re-filled by the manufacturer - it is not damage. The eye mechanism was hoped to be a big success but was not, but by this time they had already accommodated for that option and later reneged on their promise. The body is original, fully-jointed with original finish, stamped in blue on the back of the torso. She wears a cotton gauze dress with wide embroidered collar, silk ribbon insert sash at the waist and newer leather shoes. The wig is a very nice apricot mohair over cork pate, well-made, but not as old as the doll.
