A very heavy 33" blade of the finest version Damascus steel, fully signed with parasol mark indicative of the finest Persian blade makers, ususally for royal patrons. Pattern is of the ladder of the prophet of Muhammad and is 1-4/8" wide blade. The Indian Talwar hilt of characteristic form is finely Damascened with gold flowers and leaves. CONDITION: Blade is in superb condition with magnificent watered Wootz pattern visible throughout and minor wear at extreme tip, and a few insignificant spots on left side of blade. The gold parasol and signature in reserve are in excellent condition. The hilt is excellent throughout with only minor wear in expected areas. All swords from the Figiel collection are regarded as extremely important by collectors of the finest Middle Eastern blades and this Talwar is no exception. Marked in Mr. Figiel's red paint "A-252".
