C. 1927. Ahrens-Fox, Cincinnati, OH. The Ahrens-Fox fire engine company built over 1500 fire engines between 1911 and 1977. In 1891, Ahrens merged with three other manufacturers to become the American Fire Engine Company, which in 1903 merged with International Fire Engine Co. to become American LaFrance Fire Engine Co. In 1904, Ahrens broke from American LaFrance to become Ahrens-Fox and became recognized as the "Rolls Royce" of fire trucks. This example is a model MX-4, serial number 1314. 750-gpm piston pumper with MX series motor, shaft drive with booster tank. CONDITION: Showing a wonderful restoration with all the gear and appointments built with the engine. Painted and labeled for the Bristol Fire Dep't. Operational and museum quality, and a great opportunity to own a small piece of fire-fighting history. Sold as is, no title.
