1965 is the coveted final year for fuel-injected Corvettes during the C2 “stingray” era. Costing more than $500 (nearly an eighth of the base roadster price tag), it was an option only intended for well-heeled track enthusiasts (a mere 771 were produced). The same year Corvette would introduce its storied line of big block engines, the sophisticated fuel injected small blocks are in as much demand, and three times as scarce. As rare as it is, this example is a Goldwood Yellow (with matching trim tag) roadster, and possibly the only of its kind on the market. The 327 cubic inch, 375 horsepower convertible is accented with telescopic steering wheel, factory correct side-pipes, and a matching hardtop (along with soft-top). An early 2000s rotisserie restoration, this stingray is a model of expert care, showing less than 31,500 miles. Ready for judging, here is a well-appointed yellow fuelie roadster, among the fastest-appreciating class of ‘Vettes ever made. • Body-off restoration • 1 of 771 fuel injected 1965 Corvettes • 4-speed transmission with positraction 3:55 gear ratio rear end • Removable hardtop and soft-top • Well-optioned with side-pipes, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, and telescopic steering wheel
1965 CHEVROLET CORVETTE “FUELIE”.
