A 34" (87cm) French bisque socket-head doll, incised on the back of the head "1907" and "15." She has in-set blue-grey glass paperweight eyes, well-painted tiny upper and lower lashes, multi-stroke thick enameled eyebrows, an open mouth with protruding upper lip, with a slight opening below the six upper molded teeth, which are part of the head instead of being separately placed. She has well-modeled ears with pierced lobes. The body is a very heavy fully-jointed original French wood and composition with mostly original paint. There is some typical flaking on the hands and fingers, especially on the left hand. It is in remarkably good condition, considering the type of material and the age of the doll. She has been elaborately costumed in an 1890s-influenced costume, a very creamy pleated silk with embroidered trim with an above-the-waist band, which is part of the dress. The wig is newer than the doll itself and is an elaborate long curl blonde mohair with long bangs. Rat tail-like long curls cover the entire back of the doll, styled much like one might find in an earlier French court, perhaps of the Louis XV era.

Condition: (Very Good).
