Mills Novelty Co. Eat Home Runs Play Baseball original condition three-reel slot machine, highly elaborate baseball amusement and trade stimulator, manufactured by Mills Novelty Co., Chicago, Illinois, circa 1930s. This is housed in an original oak cabinet with ornate cast metal front and the machine features colorful baseball diamond playing field, populated with raised players, base indicators, and scoring devices. The upper portion incorporates three revolving reels with original reel strips. Has what appears to be original marquee with original award card, reading "Eat Home Runs", "Play Baseball", "A Game of Skill". Has three skill stops on the top of the machine. The machine is presented on a custom pedestal, handmade by the famous contemporary carver, Jim Smock, decorated with a three-dimensional New York Yankees baseball player figure and baseballs. CONDITION: The machine retains original paint in red, blue, and green, with the original identification plate on the right-hand side of the machine, original back door with an original Mills lock. The machine exhibits some wear and oxidation, very minimal paint loss and surface marks, consistent with age and use. The custom Yankees pedestal is beautifully carved and only accentuates this wonderful machine. A visually impressive and unusually elaborate example of pre-war American coin-operated amusement equipment, combining the tremendous collector appeal of Mills early machines with one of the most desirable themes in coin-op collecting - baseball.
