C. 1940s. A great classic arcade piece. Identifies as Scientific Machine Corps Batting Practice in the 15 balls for 5¢ configuration, which matches the original 1941 machine. This coin-operated mechanical baseball is in original upright wood cabinet with large glass windows and colorful original style marquee reading "Scientific Batting Practice Batm' Out Boys 15 balls 5¢". The interior features miniature baseball players with mechanical baseball bat apparatus. The player operates the bat to strike automatically delivered balls toward graduated scoring areas represented where the baseball hits. The machine tracks the runners progress around the bases and scores run mechanically. It retains its original coin mech exterior operating handle painted with graphics, especially attractive baseball-themed marquee. The cabinet exhibits considerable expected surface wear, paint loss, and abrasions consistent with decades of commercial use.
